On Friday, we had a decent amount of snow here in NJ, 7" or so. Of course, by the time they closed our building at work, a lot of us were already there. But at least it was a nice quiet day anyway. It was a fairly easy drive home that afternoon, as the roads were cleared by then, and I came back to find my son Jeremy, and girlfriend Stacey, shoveling snow. Somebody definitely heard THIS tree falling!
And they have a sense of humor!
During the evening of July 19, Montclair, New Jersey was subjected to a severe thunder and lightning storm. It caused horrendous damage to trees, tearing up the roots massive trees. Evidently they suffered a phenomenon called a Microburst , which acts like a treetop tornado. Much of the town was without power, for anywhere from hours to days. Global Warming theorists hypothesize that there will be an increasing number of violent and severe storms due to the disruption of natural climate patterns. For those of you who haven't seen An Inconvenient Truth I strongly recommend it. It's an extremely well documented and sobering look at this crucial issue and the diastrous consequences of ignoring it. Also, see the Kyoto Protocol for more information.
