Baseball Playoffs, Sans Yankees

Well, it's a strange experience for both the Yankees and Yankee fans to not see that team in the playoffs. In a way, it's a relief as it's been a painful season to watch, and I'm sure my blood pressure will be reduced not having to be tortured by their dysfunction. It's kind of nice to watch a baseball game without having a vested interest in the outcome, though I would like to see the Tampa Rays at least get to the World Series. I was also rooting for the Cubs, but alas, that was not in the cards. If only the !#&%)#!&% Red Sox were not in the post-season, it would be more relaxing. I'm on the team of "anybody but Boston." Although, there would be some irony if the L.A. Dodgers (with former Yankee manager, Joe Torre, and former Red Sox Manny Ramirez) meet the Red Sox in the World Series. It would sort of be "deja vu all over again", in the immortal words of baseball philosopher Yogi Berra. An ersatz continuation of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. Baseball imitates life, or is it the other way around?
