    Blog-Guilt

Yes. Social Media for Jews! I haven't blogged or vlogged in a very long time. Lots of excuses, but I still feel guilty about it. So I'll try to overcompensate by talking about a lot of things. First of all, I got this great flip camera from my friends at  Jivox! I'm somewhat of a video snob, preferring the prosumer cameras from Panasonic and Sony, but this little thing is really cool. It's like an iPod for video! So, I made a video of my dog Beauty, and it came out pretty well.

So, do you notice how everyone is starting sentences with the word "so"? It's the new "you know", I think. So, I'll try not to use it. I've been very busy on you tube with the Johnson & Johnson health channel, and in fact, we're advertising on blip! A colleague of mine, Marc Monseau, author and editor of JNJ BTW, did a podcast with Mark Senak, who runs the blog, Eye on FDA. So, I mean, anyway, it's been really cold, snowy and wintry in New Jersey, so maybe that's why I haven't been blogging (?) Oh, we're also going to get a new puppy, a Portuguese Water Dog (no, not just because Barack might be getting one), to keep Beauty company. There, I feel much better now, I blogged. Now I can relax and worry about something else.

    Emerging Emergiblog!

I just came back from Blog World Expo (why do I keep thinking of Wally World?!), in Las Vegas.

Other than the location, it was great. Lots of interesting vendors offering widget, aggregation and monetizing applications. And I came back with several pounds of tee shirts.

But the main reason I attended was to meet with Kim of Emergiblog.

    1000 Women Bloggers......and me!

First impressions of BlogHer 08. Fantastic conference. And I'm just exaggerating, there are a bunch of us guys, but we are definitely a tiny minority. A new concept for white males! In many positive ways, this conference is unique by dint of its population, but on the other hand, a BlogHer is a blogger, is a blogger. And I'm finding there is ample common ground, information sharing and interests. One thing that you can't help noticing is the amazing positive energy here. It's palpable. It's also extremely well organized, and boy (or girl), do they know snack food - danish, Snickers, popcorn, chocloate, even Swedish Fish at the Sesame St. booth. It is also striking how non-commercial this is. Even though there are sponsors (J&J is here through the Safe Kids Worldwide organization, of which we are a founding sponsor), there is surprisingly little "pitching" going on. Maybe I'm stereotyping, but it seems that there is a female sensibility for "sharing" and connecting, as opposed to a masculine one of "selling" and deal making. Speaking of which, I'm reluctantly being impressed by Twitter, which the participants here seem to love. While it seems a bit like "social stalking" to me, it certainly is an interesting way to keep in touch. I noticed a twitter from BlogHer yesterday which read: "I'm amused that there are men here at BlogHer..............they're smarties! ;-)" I was kind of amused by THAT! But I think she may be right.

    From Molecule to Medicine

Pharmaceutical research and development (R&D) is a complex endeavor. It often takes up to 14 years and a billion dollars of investment to turn a molecule into a medicine that saves patients lives. And, the journey from discovery to market, is filled with challenges. For every 10 compounds that show promise, just one new drug makes it to the market. "From Molecule to Medicine," is an award-winning movie created by Johnson & Johnson that takes the viewer on an exciting behind-the-scenes journey through the pharmaceutical R&D process.
